SIMI VALLEY, Ventura County — Residents seeking a safe way to dispose of unused paint, pool chemicals, household cleaners and similar materials can register for the city’s next free household hazardous waste event on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 8 a.m. to noon.
The City of Simi Valley says the household hazardous waste service is by appointment only, for eligible residential customers. Its program information lists Simi Valley residents, and its FAQ also describes eligibility for Moorpark residents; applicants should confirm eligibility when booking. Appointments for the November event opened September 21, according to the city.
What can be brought?
Examples listed by the city include pesticides, automotive batteries, paint, solvents, fluorescent lamps, antifreeze, cleaning products and certain household medications. Controlled substances, business waste, propane tanks, ammunition and explosives are not accepted. Electronic-waste disposal uses separate options and must not be assumed part of this event.
The city sets a maximum of 15 gallons of liquid or 125 pounds of solids per appointment. Participants are informed of the collection address through their appointment confirmation and should not arrive at City Hall expecting automatic drop-off. Appointment slots are limited.
Handling hazardous materials safely matters for neighborhood air, soil and water quality. The city reminds residents that hazardous waste should not be placed in normal trash or poured into drains.
